Police were called to the area of Richmond Hill Avenue and Greenwich Avenue a little after 10 p.m.when the rear window of a van was shot out, Capt. Richard Conklin said. There was a whole family in the van, including a three-year-old child, he said. No one was injured in the van.

While investigating, police found the victim who had gunshot wounds to his right arm and lower back, the captain said. He described the injuries as serious but not life threatening.

Investigators are not exactly sure where the shooting took place, because the victim had moved from where he was after being shot, but they do know it happened close to a shooting which resulted in a homicide earlier this year, Conklin said.

“We will have to pay special attention to that area,” the captain said.

Police do not know if Tuesday’s shooting is related to the other one, but were hoping to learn more after speaking to the victim again Wednesday.
