James Flanagan, 85, Former Ossining Resident OSSINING, N.Y. – Longtime Ossining dentist, Dr. James G. Flanagan, III died at his home in Maine on Friday, July 15. He was 85. He was born in Manhattan, to James and Helen (Sheehan) Flanagan, Jr.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from St. Bonaventure University and then went on to serve as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army. In 1960, he received his doctorate in dental surgery from Farleigh Dickinson Dental School and pursued his career in his Ossining practice for 30 years.
