The Stamford Youth Soccer League’s FC U12 Boys Premier team toppled three teams from New York and Connecticut in the Manhattan Soccer Kick-Off Classic March 3-5.
The team is now number two in the state, beating Everton (number 1 in Connecticut) 4-2
The players, all from Stamford, finished undefeated in the tournament, which was held at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers.
Team coaches are Jason Segovia, of Quality Touch Soccer Academy, with John Anderson as volunteer assistant coach and manager Christina Vander Kolk.
The team will compete in the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association Elite League in the spring.
Other teams that played in the weekend tournament included Albertson Academy (NY rank No. 5); NY Elite FC (NY); Beachside White (CT); Downtown United Soccer Club B2005 Orange (NY); NY Hota Bavarians NPL 05, Manhattan SC Freedom Blue, and Everton America (CT).
The final scores were:
Stamford FC vs. DUSC (7-0), Stamford FC vs. Hota Bavarians (7-3), Stamford FC vs. Manhattan Freedom (6-1), and in the finals, Stamford FC defeated Everton America (4-2).
