Stamford's Aite Ranks Among Top 10 High Schools In Connecticut

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Eight high schools in Fairfield County are among the Top 10 in the state, according to the latest school rankings report from Niche.com.

In its "2017 Best Public High Schools Report," Niche.com used a variety of factors, including SAT/ACT scores, student-teacher ratio, the quality of colleges that students consider and reviews from students and parents for its rankings. The website then assigned letter grades of A, B, C, etc. for culture and safety, diversity, and clubs and activities.

Here are the Top 10 high schools in the state, which include the eight districts in Fairfield County, from Niche.com:

1: New Canaan High: Some of its top scores included an A-plus for Health & Safety and A for Clubs & Activities. Its graduation rate is 99 percent, its SAT composite score (out of 1600) is 1270,  average ACT score is 30 (out of 36), and AP enrollment is 60 percent.

2: Staples High in Westport: It scored an A-plus in both Health & Safety and Clubs & Activities. The SAT average score is 1280, ACT average score is 30, and AP enrollment is 34 percent.

3: Greenwich High:. The school's SAT average score is 1280, ACT average score is 30, and AP enrollment is 34 percent.

4: Weston High: It's SAT average score is 1300, ACT average score is 31, and AP enrollment is 28 percent.

5: Glastonbury High:  The school located in suburban Hartford has a1260 average SAT score, 30 average ACT score, and 34.6 percent AP enrollment.

6: Simsbury High: Another suburban Hartford school with a 1260 average SAT score, 30 average ACT score, and 34 percent AP enrollment.

7: Wilton High: Students posted a 1260 average SAT score, 30 average ACT score, and 34 percent AP enrollment.

8: Joel Barlow High in Easton and Redding: The school boasts a 1240 average SAT score, 30 average ACT score, and 23 percent AP enrollment.

9: Darien High: The school has a 1240 average SAT score, 30 average ACT score, and 23 percent AP enrollment.

10: The Academy of Information Technology and Engineering in Stamford: The inter-district public magnet high school draws students from throughout western Fairfield County. It has a 1170 average SAT score, 29 average ACT score, and 37 percent AP enrollment.
