STAMFORD, Conn. -- Mayor David Martin addressed Stamford’s Realtors at its General Membership meeting on Wednesday morning at the Italian Center on Newfield Avenue.
On the heals of his proposed $536 million budget presentation to the Board of Representatives, the Mayor touched on Stamford’s fiscal position, economic development, public schools, and public safety.
The Mayor’s commitment to strong fiscal management includes a 3.79 percent proposed tax increase, full funding of prior years’ unfunded pension and retirement benefits, investing in traffic, transportation and safety improvements, funding for cultural, youth and social service organizations, and an increase in funding to volunteer firehouses.
A concerted effort is being put forth to commence cost-avoidance initiatives across the City but the Mayor states “no reduction in services” will be seen.
In addition, the Mayor highlighted Stamford’s recent recognition as an “eCity” by Google, an Award that recognizes the strongest online business community in each state.
