The crash took place around 10:10 a.m. Monday at 3 Plumtrees Road in Danbury when the truck, exiting a business with its bed extended struck the power lines over the roadway, said Danbury PD Det. Ralph Anderson.

The truck bed that hit the utility lines caused a utility pole to break and the lines to come down in the roadway resulting in the dump truck rolling onto its driver's side, Anderson said.

The operator was transported from the scene by EMS to Danbury Hospital for his injuries. A passenger was cleared by EMS at the scene.

Due to the extensive damage caused at the scene, utility crews will be working to restore the poles and utility lines for an extended period of time, he added.

"The public should expect significant travel delays in this area and avoid it entirely if possible," Anderson said.
