Stamford Bicyclist, 72, Dies In Hospital A Day After He Was Hit By Car

STAMFORD, Conn. -- A 72-year-old Stamford man has died as a result of the injuries he suffered after a motor vehicle accident Monday morning, police said.

Abdul Aziz died Tuesday at Stamford Hospital.

Aziz was riding his bicycle on the southern-side sidewalk of Tresser Boulevard and entered the crosswalk to travel north near Edith Sherman Drive at about 9:39 a.m. Monday, police said.

An eastbound 2004 Toyota Sienna on Tresser Boulevard driven by Jerry Bastien, 28, of Stamford, collided with Aziz in the left center lane of Tresser Boulevard,, police said. 

Aziz, who was not wearing a helmet, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. Bastien remained at the scene and cooperated fully with officers, police said.
