Red Bull didn’t give a sticky-fingered suspect wings during a chase with state and local police in Newtown after attempting to steal several cases of the popular energy drink.
Officers from the Newtown Police Department were dispatched to the Big Y Store on Queen Street late on Tuesday afternoon, where there was a report of two suspects who had entered the store and attempted to the Red Bull before being approached by security.
Police said that the two men struggled with security and managed to get free and flee before police arrived, leading to a canvas of the area. While local police detectives were investigating the attempted theft, an eagle-eyed State Police trooper spotted one suspect - whose name was not released pending processing - on I-84.
Police were able to apprehend the first suspect, who was arrested and charged with robbery. He was scheduled to be arraigned in Newtown on Wednesday. Further information is expected to be released once the second suspect is taken into custody.
