Fairfield Police Lt. Robert Kalamaras said the incident took place around 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, at the Coromandel Cuisine of India on Pease Avenue.

Surveillance video shows the man, holding a flashlight, climbing over the counter, and yanking the drawer from the register, before fleeing the scene.

The whole burglary took place so quickly that by the time police arrived after being alerted by an alarm, glass shards were still falling from the smashed door.

About $2,000 was in the cash drawer, and the damaged cash register is valued at $2,400. The damage to the front door will cost around $3,000 to repair.

Police said the thief, who may walk with a limp, was wearing a ski mask, gloves, cargo pants and black tennis shoes.

Anyone who may know the suspect or have information, are asked to contact police at 203-254-4840.
