Police: Stratford Man Arrested After Officer Breaks Up Drug Buy In Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. — An alert police officer arrested a Stratford man after spotting what he believed was a drug transaction Thursday evening in Stamford, police said.

Lt. Diedrich Hohn was walking on Lipton Place, a short U-shaped street near the 700 block of Atlantic Street, at 6 p.m. when he noticed two men, police said. 

When the men saw Hohn, one quickly peeled away and Hohn was able to follow him and detain him near 771 Atlantic St., police said. 

Hohn discovered a coffee cup near the man and found what police believe is seven bags of crack cocaine and 11 bags of marijuana packaged and ready for sale, police said. 

Mark Anthony Stephenson, 18, of 65 Guzzi Drive, Stratford, was charged with four-drug related counts and one count of third-degree criminal trespass. HIs bond was set at $5,000.
