The victim had a previous relationship with the suspect’s wife and has been harassing the couple, Hohn said. The husband, Rodolgo Calate-Moreno, 35, hit him in the head with a bat, the lieutenant said. Hohn did not know the extent of the harassment or the relationship but said it had to do with money the wife owed the victim.

A protective order was in place for the victim to leave Calate-Moreno and his wife alone, but it expired and the harassment started up again, Hohn said.

The suspect, who was charged with first-degree assault and was held on $500,000 bond, has been cooperative with police, the lieutenant said.
