Justin F. Finley, 34, of 26 Nobile St., was charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct in the incident. Stamford police Lt. Diedrich Hohn said the investigation was continuing and further charges may be lodged against the man, who is the victim's boyfriend.

At about 6:30 a.m. Saturday, a man heard knocking at his door, Stamford police said. He didn't open the door but saw a bloodied woman naked from the waist down walking down the street and he called police.

Officers searched the neighborhood and discovered her coming from an abandoned car behind a home, police said. They noticed she had cuts and scratches all over her as well, police said.

"At his point we don't know what we have," Hohn said of the officers who tried to piece together what had happened with the semi-cooperative witness.

Hohn said the woman was disorientated from her injuries, which included a broken nose, and because she had been wandering outside since 2:30 a.m. when a video camera recorded her leaving the residence. She was only partially cooperative in providing information about what happened, Hohn said, because the suspect is her boyfriend.

Officers were able to get enough information from her that led them to the home, police said. They secured the residence and waited for the search warrant to arrive so they could investigate inside, Hohn said.

When officers entered the home at about 12:30 p.m., they discovered blood splattered on the walls inside, he said.

Finley had left the scene before offices arrived but later turned himself in to police after his lawyer called police about 2:30 p.m., police said.

He was held on $150,000 bond for a court appearance Monday in state Superior Court in Stamford.

The woman is recovering after spending the night outside in cold conditions before officers found her, Hohn said. He said she had knocked on other doors but failed to wake the residents inside before finally rousting the man, whom Hohn called a Good Samaritan, who called police.
