The suspect, Donald Saturno, 47, first came under suspicion in late January when police found materials that could be used to make bombs in his home, while assisting the city’s health department with a search, the sergeant said. At that time police seized the materials for testing before applying for and receiving an arrest warrant, DeRubeis said.

Police were unable to find Saturno to serve the warrant, however he was stopped in Ridgefield by officers who recognized his information, DeRubeis said.

Forensic testing is still being done on some of the materials seized from the home, DeRubeis said. He would not say what specifically was identified, but added “we’ve seen enough” to get a warrant.

Saturno was charged with illegal bomb manufacturing, a felony, police said.
