O&G Industries Worker Hit By Loader Dies In Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. — A man died after being hit with a Caterpillar front-end loader at O&G Industries on Canal Street in Stamford on Tuesday, police said.

The loader was working in the yard as part of the asphalt production process when the accident occurred, a news release from the Stamford Police Department said. The injuries were fatal. The victim, a 59-year-old man from Naugatuck was declared dead on the scene, the release said.

The victim had worked with O&G Industries for the past nine years, and the operator, 64, of Litchfield, has been working with the company for the past 19 years, the release said.

Police, fire, and emergency medical services responded to the scene, the release said. The police department will be working with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on the investigation, the release said.
