A 26-year-old motorcyclist was killed Sunday after colliding with another vehicle.

The Stamford resident died around 7 p.m. Sunday following a crash on Tresser Boulevard at Canal Street, said Stamford Police Sgt. Andrew Gallagher.

A preliminary investigation into the crash found that a 2012 Jeep Wrangler was traveling westbound on Tresser Boulevard, intending to turn left onto Canal Street southbound when a 2004 Yamaha YZ600 motorcycle, traveling eastbound on Tresser, crashed into the turning Jeep at the intersection, Gallagher said.

The driver of the Jeep, an 18-year-old male Norwalk resident, stayed at the scene of the crash and is cooperating with the investigation.

The motorcycle driver, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to Stamford Hospital where he died of injuries he sustained in the crash, Gallagher said.

The department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad are investigating the crash and ask that anyone with information contact them at 203-977-4712.

The investigation is being conducted by Sergeants Jeffrey Booth and Andrew Gallagher.
