STAMFORD, Conn. -- A man was hit with a baseball bat after coming to the defense of his girlfriend Friday night in Stamford's Cove section, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Police told the Stamford Advocate that the incident took place late at a mini-mart at the intersection of Cove Road and Frederick Street, the report said.

A Hispanic male came up to the man and his girlfriend, talked rudely to her and tried to touch her, police told the Stamford Advocate.
