Fire Destroys Southfield Ave. Condo Units In Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. -- What started out as a call for a brush fire turned rapidly into a quick moving blaze that destroyed two units of a condominium complex Wednesday night.

No one was hurt in the fire at the Waterside Green condominium complex at 1 Southfield Ave., Stamford Fire Department officials said, although it displaced residents at the two units.

Responding firefighters quickly called in support to deal with the three-alarm fire that was first reported at 7:30 p.m.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in an hour. Six engine companies, three fire trucks and the Heavy Rescue Company responded to the fire.

The American Red Cross is assisting the fire victims.

The Stamford Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.
