Bridgeport resident Tyeshon King, 31, pleaded guilty in New Haven federal court to possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon.

On March 24 last year, King was caught in possession of a Taurus 9mm semi-automatic pistol, a Taurus .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol that had been reported stolen, and 28 rounds of assorted .40-caliber ammunition, all of which were manufactured out of state, during an FBI search of his residence. Investigators also seized items used to process and package drugs for street sales.

King had previously been convicted in May 2007 for attempted assault, for which he was sentenced to 15 years in prison, suspended after three years. John Durham, the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut noted that it’s a violation of federal law for a person convicted of a felony offense to possess a firearm or ammunition that has moved in interstate.

Durham said that King has been detained since his arrest on July 13 last year. He is due to be sentenced on Nov. 19, when he faces 10 years in prison.
