NEW CANAAN, Conn. --  A Darien woman was charged with kicking a police officer during an arrest in New Canaan last week, according to police.

At around 4:48 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, an officer on patrol in New Canaan saw 37-year-old Adaobi N. Kurylov of Darien riding a bicycle on South Avenue. The officer knew that there was an active warrant out for Kurylov for failure to appear in court for a previous incident in New Canaan police said.

The officer followed Kurylov in his patrol car and saw her commit multiple traffic violations, including not obeying a traffic signal and not using her hands to signal turns, police said. She was finally stopped on Main Street and taken into custody.

Police said that Kurylov resisted arrest and kicked the arresting officer. She was also not cooperative during booking, and interfered with officers in the booking area when they tried to fingerprint her, according to police.

Kurylov was charged with interfering with an officer and assault on a peace officer, as well as second-degree failure to appear. She was released on a combined bond of $10,000 and given a court date of Jan. 25.

Kurylov is also accused of shoving an 82-year-old man following a traffic accident in Darien in December, according to the New Canaanite. On Dec. 11, Kurylov was knocked down when the man, a retired doctor, struck the rear tire of her bike with his car, the New Canaanite reported.

She got up and shoved the man, knocking him to the ground and causing a hip fracture, according to the New Canaanite. She also yelled obscenities during the incident, according to the New Canaanite. She was ultimately charged with third-degree assault, the New Canaanite reported.
