Darien Police officers arrived at the scene of a two-car accident on Tokeneke Road near the Interstate 95 exit ramp at about 1:25 a.m. Oct. 15, according to police reports. One driver told police that the other car had turned left out of the exit ramp into the incorrect lane and collided with him, police said. Neither driver was injured.

The other driver, Charles Jean, 41, of Severance Drive, was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol, according to the arrest report. He failed field sobriety tests at the scene, police said. Police later found that he had taken prescription medication before drinking, according to police reports.

Jean was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive on the right last week. He was released on $250 bond, and is due in court on Oct. 25.
