33-Year-Old Man Identified As Victim In Stamford Harbor Drowning

STAMFORD, Conn. — The man who apparently drowned Friday in Stamford Harbor has been identified as a 33-year-old city resident, according to the Stamford Advocate.

A man was pulled from Stamford Harbor after police responded to a report of a swimmer going underwater. The man, identified as Rasheed Hines, was pronounced dead at Stamford Hospital.

Rasheed Hines waded into the water near the harbor’s East Branch at about 11 a.m. Friday and began to struggle, Capt. Richard Conklin told the Advocate.

Several witnesses tried to help as others called 911, the Advocate said. 

First-responders from the Stamford and Greenwich Fire Departments searched for Hines, pulling his body from the water about an hour later, the Stamford Advocate said. He was pronounced dead at Stamford Hospital.
