Marian Johnson, 99, Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Marian Johnson, a resident of Stamford, died Wednesday, Feb.10. She was 99.

As a dedicated volunteer she worked at the Stamford Hospital for more than 30 years. She also volunteered as an ESL literacy coach. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Francis Episcopal Church in North Stamford, where she taught Sunday school and served on the altar guild.

She is survived by her five children, Marion Cross (Mimi), Thomas S. (Tom), Bernard W. (Buck), Sarah Gardella and Christiana (Kicky); seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Rufus K. and Marian Schriber.

The family is planning a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19 in the St. Francis Episcopal Historic Church, 503 Old Long Ridge Road.

ln lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the the St. Francis Historic Church Memorial Fund, the Stamford Hospital Volunteer Program or the Greenwich Hospital Home Hospice Program.
