Joseph Mancini Jr., 61, Stamford Native, Post Office Supervisor

STAMFORD, Conn. —Joseph Mancini Jr., Jr., 61, of New Milford and formerly of Stamford, passed away suddenly Aug. 13, 2016 at Stamford Hospital.

Mancini was born Dec. 7, 1954, in Stamford, the son of Joseph J. Mancini Sr. and the late Rose Terranova Mancini. He graduated Stamford Catholic High School, Class of 1973, where he was an athletic standout in both baseball and basketball. He went on to attend Loyola College in Baltimore, Class of 1977, where he also played baseball.

Mancini was a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 40 years and was just inducted into the Stamford Old Timers Association. He had a love of music and shared that with his girls, taking them to many concerts. He was a dedicated father, deeply involved in the caring and raising of his girls.

Besides his father, he is survived by his five daughters, Jenna, Arden, Lily and Imre Mancini and Diana Rodriguez-Ingram and her daughter Piper Lorelei, all of New Milford; the mother of his children, Maria Rodriguez of New Milford; his siblings, Melanie Sierpina and her husband Mike of Stamford, Kathi Joyce and her husband Jack of Stamford and Thomas Mancini and his wife Lisa of Matthews, N.C.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

A funeral procession will leave at 9:30 a.m. Friday from the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford and proceed to St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm St., Stamford for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford. Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A separate memorial Mass will be conducted at St. Francis Xavier RC Church in New Milford at a date to be announced.
