Chiaia was born in Italy on Oct. 7, 1930, to parents Stefano and Josephine Chiaia.
He is survived by his wife Maud Simon Chiaia; his daughter Josie Fraioli and her husband Carlo; son-in-law Steward Sprosue; and granddaughters Lianna Melzer and her husband Danny; Celia Sprouse; and great grandchildren Rylee and Madison.
He was predeceased his daughter Lisa Sprouse.
Funeral mass is Saturday, March 5, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church, 1200 Shippan Ave., Stamford. There will be no calling hours and the interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his memory to the Carl and Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center, c/o Stamford Hospital, located at 30 Shelburne Road, Stamford.
