DiRubio worked in the information technology field before joining with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) where he and a team scaled Nanda Devi to 20,000 feet.
DiRubio is survived byhis parents, Jeffrey, and Joanna; Grandparents, Janet and Wallace Splawn, his siblings Jessica, Matthew, Christopher and Nicholas, many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as his dogs Bogie, Franco and Bear.
Because of his experiences, NOLS is looking to fund a scholarship in DiRubio's name to send at least one person on a similar life-changing trip.

A celebration of DiRubio's life will be held on Saturday, May 6 at his parent's home in New Canaan, the New Canaan Advertiser said.
