Carl C. 'Collie' Galasso Sr., 98, Lifelong Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. — Lifelong Stamford resident Carl C. "Collie" Galasso Sr. died Monday, April 25. He was 98.

Galasso was a private first class in World War II and fought in the Battle of The Bulge.

Most of his career was spent at Birch Meadows Corp., where he was superintendent of a large estate.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mildred Galasso (D'Agostino); three children, Angela Galasso and husband Donald Hartman, Jaqueline Schonberg and her husband Peter, and Lucy Galasso and her husband Dr. Alan McCollom; his grandchildren, Gena Galasso, Torrie Marie Hartman, Jordan Galasso McCollom, Steven Perry Schonberg; and four great-grandchildren.

Galasso was preceded by his son, Carl Galasso Jr.; his brother, Daniel Galasso; and his sisters, Lucy Posidento and Catherine Galasso.

Relatives and friends can call Thursday, April 28, from 4-7 p.m. at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 29, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. 

Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford.
