STAMFORD, Conn. -- Staff members and their families numbering in the thousands at Stamford-based Affinion Group may be open to identity theft because W2 information was hacked in a phishing scam, the company told NBC Connecticut.
But none of the company's systems were breached, and no customer information was involved, Affinion Group spokesman James McCusker told NBC Connecticut.
Authorities have been made aware of the breach and are working with current and former staff members to take steps to protect their personal information, he told NBC Connecticut.
The breach could affect 3,000 employees, NBC Connecticut said.
