Police Seek Help Identifying Woman Who Died In Jump Onto I-95 In Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. — State Police are seeking the public's help in identifying the woman who died after jumping on to Interstate 95 from an overpass in Stamford just before noon Thursday.

The woman, who is believed to be Hispanic, jumped from the Main Street overpass at Exit 9 at 11:46 a.m. on to I-95's left lane. She died from severe head injuries, state police said.

She was about 5-foot-4 with long brown hair, brown eyes and a freckled face. She was wearing white Sketcher-style sneakers, a gray hooded sweatshirt with an "American Eagle" logo on the front and black yoga spandex pants. Her ears are pierced but she wasn't wearing any jewelry. On her left wrist, she had two hair bands, one green and the other blue.

State police said the woman was also struck by a car on I-95, but it was not clear whether she was already dead. 

I-95 was clogged for hours after the accident, with all lanes closed for a while, then two lanes closed for over two hours, DOT said.
