Scorziello, 10, will stand behind the microphone as a guest of the Red Sox and sing "God Bless America" prior to the game. The daughter of Amy and Steve Scorziello is a Yankees fan, but promised to stay neutral in the building of her archrival. “I’m just going to wear white,’’ the young singer said. “I don’t want to take any sides.”

Scorziello’s mother sent the Red Sox a YouTube clip of her daughter singing the anthem at a Manhattanville College ice hockey game. The team responded via email with an invitation to sing at the game.

“When I read the email I was screaming,’’ Lucy said. “Then I started telling everyone I know. Then I got back to practice and started singing right away.”

Lucy said she’s been singing for as long as she can remember. Scorziello, who will attend Rippowam Middle School in the fall, said she was influenced by her older sister, Sophia, who also loves singing. “I remember a few years ago we were at barbecue and they had a karaoke machine,’’ she said. “We went up and sang and I knew right there that’s something I wanted to do.”

Amy said her daughter sings around the house all day long. She especially enjoys singing pop hits. One of her favorites is an old time classic, “At Last,” by Etta James.

“I’m very excited for her and nervous,’’ Amy said. “I think it’s a great opportunity. It’s a passion of hers and she’d love to get into singing and acting.”

Lucy also auditioned to sing at the upcoming U.S. Open tennis tournament in New York. She has had several other local gigs, including at Bridgeport and for the opening ceremonies for the Stamford American Little League.

“This is such a great opportunity to be put out there,’’ Lucy said. “I’m really looking forward to it. I just want to do well.”
