NORWALK, Conn. -- More than $165,000 had been raised as of Tuesday evening on a GoFundMe site launched last week for a Norwalk boy battling cancer.
Earlier this month, Michael Schneider was diagnosed with Metastatic Neuroblastoma, a cancer of the nervous system growing in his adrenal gland.
In an effort to aid the family, Heidi Rieger LaFreniere launched the fundraiser.
"People who know him will tell you that he is one of the most fun-loving, goofy, polite, caring, smart, athletic and tough kids that they know," she wrote.
"Mikey will fight. He is the true definition of a fighter. He will fight and he will beat this. Mikey's family is equally as strong. They are some of the best people you will ever meet.
"Mikey is blessed with an amazing family support system that will help him get through this awful disease. They are going to dive into this fight head-first, and they will beat it together."
