As she set it free, she whispered: “Tell your friends that I am kind.” That one sentence is the inspiration behind the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary, a tribute to the little girl who was one of 20 children and six adults who perished in the Sandy Hook School massacre on Dec. 14, 2012. Ripka's Giving Trees Celebrates The Season While Supporting Norwalk Groups
NORWALK, Conn. -- Families found their perfect Christmas tree while supporting a number of Norwalk organizations, as Ripka's Giving Tree wrapped up its first annual event. Ripka's Giving Tree was held on Dec. 2 at Ripka's Beach Café at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk. More than 50 trees, wreaths and decorations were unloaded. Beardsley Zoo Staff Works Around The Clock To Save Weeks-Old Tiger Kittens
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The Beardsley Zoo welcomed two tiger kittens last month — and it looks like staffers are more excited than their massive mom. The zoo’s 10-year-old Amur tiger Changbai gave birth to four cubs on Nov. 25. Sadly, two died and Changbai showed no interest in the remaining two females, who are being cared for at the zoo’s hospital. “We are hand feeding the babies five times a day,” said Zoo Director Gregg Dancho. “They are being given a feline milk replacement formula, supplemented with vitamins. STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford Emergency Medical Services and the Stamford Paramedic Association Local R-1 684 are making the holidays a little brighter for some of the community’s youngest citizens by donating a new toy to every pediatric patient throughout the month of December. NORWALK, Conn. — A group of Norwalk students are celebrating the publication of a book they wrote this year through the Norwalk Housing Authority and the Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan.
