Employee Nick Colabella lost his Monroe home he shared with his wife, two daughters and mother to the fire on July 12.

The family, who were on the way to their grandmother's funeral when the fire started, lost everything in the fire.

According to Mose Saccary, the highway superintendent in New Canaan who started the page, the fire started in the garage, but Colabella could not extinguish the fire himself and called the Monroe Fire Department.

His fellow employees are hoping to raise $10,000 to help the family replace essentials lost in the fire such as clothing, toys for the children and everyday essentials, the GoFundMe page says.

"When such a tragedy strikes one of our own, we need to do whatever we can to help," Saccary said on the page.

To date, $8,700 has been raised. To help the family get back on their feet, click here.
