Each summer, parents grapple with what to do with their children. North Castle is offering a solution.

Camp Kick A Poo, a day camp open to pre-schoolers, and Camp Chippewa, a day camp open to children in grades K-8, are ready to kick off the 2016 season.

Led by Director Elizabeth Holdner and Assistant Director Sarah Kaufman, Camp Kick A Poo is to open for its third summer at Coman Hill School on Bedford Road.

The camp, open to children ages 3-5, is to provide arts and crafts, general sports, music, story time and trips to the town pool, according to organizers. Three-year-olds are in session from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. while 4- and 5-year-olds are in session until 2 p.m.

Camp Chippewa, which is welcoming back co-directors Keri Buonassisi and Stefan Birek for the fourth year along with camp Nurse Fran French and Aquatic Director Meghan Basher, is to offer activities in sports, “mad science,” arts and crafts, nature, Hobby Quest, gymnastics, swimming and more, according to organizers.

Chippewa campers are to be offered at least one trip per week and the opportunity to participate in special events like the Chippewa Camp Carnival and the camp's “Color War.”

Orientation for Camp Kick A Poo, which is led by certified teachers, is scheduled for 5 p.m. June 29 at the Wampus School’s cafeteria on Wampus Avenue. The event is optional. Organizers said there will be other opportunities for parents to meet with camp directors.

Orientation for Camp Chippewa is scheduled for 6 p.m. June 29 at the Wampus School.

Both camps are scheduled to run from July 5 - Aug.12. Bussing is available for Camp Chippewa, but is not available for children attending Camp Kick A Poo.
