NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- From soothing chicken noodle to rich tomato, soup is one dish that never disappoints.

We asked for your top picks for our DVlicious “Best Soup in Fairfield County” contest and whittled it down to five finalists. Each is being profiled this week with the winner selected Monday, Feb. 22. Here’s a “bowl-ful” rundown on one of them.

Baldenza Natural Market and Cafe, 17 Elm St., New Canaan (203) 966-4000

Number of Soups Offered: Four daily. According to Angela Baldenza, who owns the cafe with her husband, Sandy, the butternut squash and lentil tend to be the most popular. Also big sellers: Escarole and bean and potato-leek.

Worth Dishing About: Opened in 2013, the cozy cafe (which seats 35 inside, and 20 on the terrace during warmer weather) gets its locally sourced ingredients from about eight different farms. Everything is made of the premises and its bar serves organic wines and craft beers. The soup is also for sale to take home, and is sold at the nearby Walter Stewart's Market. Oh, and the table that stands near the entranceway once belonged to actress Faye Dunaway.

Click HERE to vote for your slurp-worthy favorite. Remember, you can vote multiple times, though only once per day.

Voting ends Monday, Feb. 22 at 5 p.m.
