STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Olympic and Sprint Triathlon on June 11 and 12 will now be one-transition courses, and all five events – kids, Olympic and Sprint Triathlon and 5k and 10k runs - will be based out of Cummings Beach.

With the change, triathletes will transition from the swim to the bike and bike to the run in one place at Cummings Beach. Spectators benefit too, having a great vantage point of all three legs of the triathlons, and the opportunity to watch the start and the finish of all races without having to hop on a shuttle.

To top it all off, the whole family can enjoy the fun, free Family Festival right on the beach for a post-race celebration.

“There are only positives to changing our race home base to Cummings Beach and the triathlons to a one-transition course,” said Stanley A. Galanski, president and CEO of The Navigators Group, Inc. “By having the race and festival activity center around the beach, our race weekend will be even more family-friendly, which is what this whole experience is about.”

For the Navigators Stamford KIC IT Kids Triathlon taking place on Saturday, June 11, children ages 6-13 will enjoy a shallow water swim along the shore of Cummings Beach and a protected bike ride and run within the Cummings Beach parking lot.

On Sunday, June 12, the Olympic and Sprint triathlon distance courses will feature a race start at Cummings Beach, with the Olympic field covering a 0.9 mile swim and the Sprint covering a half mile swim. Athletes will then transition to a scenic bike loop through North Stamford, with the Olympic covering 24.8 miles and Sprint covering 14.2 miles. They will return to Cummings Beach and embark on a 3.4 or 6.1 mile run through Shippan Point, eventually ending back at Cummings Beach.

5k and 10k runners will enjoy the same courses as the run leg of the triathlons.
