Construction crews were working on the Brownstein-Selkowitz Carousel Pavilion in Mill River Park on Tuesday, bringing that experience a bit closer to a reality.

The building will house a carousel with 30 hand-carved carousel figures and a fully accessible chariot, according to the Mill River Park Collaborative.

The building, which broke ground in June 2015, is expected to open this fall, according to the collaborative.

Once it opens, Stamford will be among the few cities with a carousel in a downtown area, according to the collaborative.

The park is located near Trump Parc Stamford and UConn-Stamford. It is bordered by Mill River Street, West Broad Street and Washington Boulevard.

Can't wait for a ride? There is a historic carousel in Hartford's Bushnell Park that dates to 1914. And there's an indoor one at the Danbury Fair Mall.

Looking for a true horseback ride? Stamford offers that, too, but you'll have to go north of the Merritt for that experience.
