Stamford's Ferguson Library Presents Film Series, Festival

STAMFORD, Conn. – The Ferguson Library in Stamford will be screening new films throughout January.

In addition to the library’s Third Thursday @ One monthly film series, the Andrew Gale Film Series will begin in January and the Annual International Short Film Festival will return for its 10th year.

Also in January, The Ferguson Library, Stamford MLK Committee and Urban League of Southwestern CT will host a special film screening and discussion of the documentary “Leaving Selma.”

Andrew Gale Film Series

Wednesday at 1 p.m. – “Boulevard.” A long-married bank employee unwittingly sets the stage for a life-altering decision. With Robin Williams and Kathy Baker. Directed by Dito Montiel. Rated R.

Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. – “Danny Collins.” An aging rock icon discovers a 40-year-old letter written to him by John Lennon. With Al Pacino, Annette Bening and Jennifer Garner. Directed by Dan Fogelman. Rated R.

Film Screening and Discussion

Saturday, Jan. 16 at 12:30 p.m. – "Leaving Selma.” In this acclaimed documentary, Andrew Young and other heroes of the Civil Rights movement relate their dramatic accounts of the true story that inspired the motion picture “Selma.” Followed by a discussion moderated by Michael Pollard and Bill Callion. Co-sponsored by Stamford MLK Committee and Urban League of Southwestern CT.

Third Thursday @ One

Thursday, Jan. 21 at 1 p.m. – “Best of Enemies.” This documentary revisits the televised debates between William F. Buckley Jr. and Gore Vidal during the 1968 Democratic and Republican national conventions. With Gore Vidal, William F. Buckley, Jr. and Dick Cavett. Directed by Morgan Neville and Robert Gordon. Rated R.

10th Annual International Short Film Festival

Sunday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m. – Celebrating the best in animation, live action and experimental film from around the world.

Films will be shown at the Main Library, DiMattia Building, third-floor auditorium at Bedford and Broad streets, Stamford.
