Stamford Musicians Perform At Darien’s Fuji of Japan

DARIEN, Conn. -- Barbara’s Serenade will perform live jazz, blues, holiday and Latin music from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday at Darien’s Fuji of Japan, 111 Old Kings Highway N.

Bar and table seating carry a $10 minimum.

Stamford vocalist Barbara Occhino will be accompanied by Steve Clarke, of Bridgeport, on bass, Jim Olbrys, of Stratford, on guitar, and Al Brooks, of Greenwich, on saxophone and flute. A multilingual singer, Occhino brings energy to every performance with jazz, blues, pop, R&B and American songbook, international favorites (Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese, and more). 

She serves as the music and entertainment curator for the Stamford ARTWALK, the annual Greenwich Holiday Stroll and several charities. 

Bassist and music composer Clarke brings has toured and recorded seven funk-jazz CDs under his own name.

Olbrys has performed at venues like CBGBs, Texas Lone Star Road House and The Bitter End. He has recorded three CDs with singer/songwriter/filmmaker Ned Farr.

Brooks is a saxophonist (tenor and bass) and flutist who has played for more than 20 years with various bands in diverse music styles (jazz, dance, Latin, big band). He performs with the Jump Start Big Band, his own SoJourn Jazz Group and the Lehman College Jazz Band.
