Chris Coulter And Blue River Jazz Band To Perform In Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Chris Coulter and the Blue River Jazz Band will perform at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Stamford on Friday

The Jazz quartet will perform at 8 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 20 Forest St., next to Latham Park and the Avon Theatre. 

Tickets at the door are $20 and include wine and cheese. 

Coulter’s current band, the Blue River Jazz Ban" is dedicated to reviving traditional "hot" jazz coming out of New Orleans. The quartet plays songs from Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Fats Waller. 

The Blue River Jazz Band consists of Chris Coulter on saxophone, Joe McWilliams on piano, Steve Taylor on bass and Peter Hohmeister on drums. Coulter has played saxophone and flute while entertaining jazz audiences throughout Connecticut for 30 years. 

Coulter has played with jazz greats like Gerry Mulligan, Clark Terry and Slide Hampton. He recently released a CD of jazz music--“Back in Your Own Backyard,” which is available on Amazon and iTunes or can be ordered through his website by clicking here.

Coulter also teaches music in the New Canaan Public Schools.
