Sorry, we couldn't resist.

The Spread, a South Norwalk restaurant known for its New American seasonal fare and neighborly vibe, is opening a second location -- soon (as in the next few weeks) -- in Greenwich.

The six owners, who live locally (think Greenwich, Stamford, Westport and Norwalk) are deeply invested in the community -- and saw an opportunity with the 3,700-square-foot space at 18 W. Putnam Ave., the former site of Barcelona Wine Bar.

Two of the co-owners, in fact, tended bar there years ago.

In an earlier Daily Voice article, Co-Owner Chris Hickey said growth was part of their goal. "In five years, we will have a few more stores open, expanding on the success we have seen so far," he said.

Just as important: Delivering top notch cuisine.

The Greenwich food lineup will be much like what you'd find at The Spread in South Norwalk and will adhere to the restaurant's mission of delivering high quality, locally sourced ingredients.

The Spread was recently featured in a story on the popularity of Brussel sprouts.

The group also runs El Segundo in Norwalk.
