The storm, which will bring 1.5 to 3 inches of heavy rain to the area, will be at its strongest from late Monday morning into early Monday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

The nor'easter was expected to begin to arrive late Sunday, with rain becoming heavy at times by about 10 a.m. Monday across the entire region. The high temperature will be about 40 degrees, keeping the precipitation to all rain.

The rain should end in the late morning on Tuesday. Some parts of the area, especially farther south, could see up to 3 to 4 inches of rain.

There is also a wind advisory in effect from 1 a.m. Monday to 1 a.m. Tuesday, with northeast winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts of up to 55 mph. Gusts of 40 mph could begin at about daybreak on Monday and grow stronger during the day.

The winds will be strong enough to blow down limbs, trees and power lines. Scattered power outages are possible.

Urban flooding is likely, with more serious urban and small stream flooding possible.

Coastal flooding is likely for the high tide cycles Monday and Tuesday. Winds along the coastline could gust up to 60 to 70 mph. On Long Island Sound, winds of 48 to 63 knots are in the forecast.
