How Much Snow Has Fairfield County Received?

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- While Winter Storm Stella might not have quite brought the 2 feet of snow that was initially predicted, several parts of Fairfield County still received close to a foot of snow Tuesday morning.

Unofficial snowfall totals compiled by the National Weather Service showed that as of noon, the county had received an average of 8.5 inches of snow. The NWS said that snow will continue throughout the county Tuesday afternoon into the night, and a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for the southern and coastal areas of the county, while a Blizzard Warning is in effect for the northern parts of the county.

The following are snowfall totals compiled Tuesday morning from various parts of Fairfield County:

  • Danbury: 10.5 inches as of 12 p.m.
  • Newtown: 10.4 inches as of 11 am.
  • New Canaan: 11.6 inches as of 2:3 p.m.
  • Greenwich: 10 inches as of 2 p.m.
  • Weston: 10 inches as of 9:15 a.m.
  • Wilton: 9.2 inches as of 8:30 a.m.
  • Brookfield: 9.1 inches as of 10:30 a.m.
  • Fairfield: 8.3 inches as of 11 a.m.
  • Westport: 8.2 inches as of 9:45 a.m.
  • Bethel: 8.2 inches as of 10:15 a.m.
  • Ridgefield: 7.5 inches as of 9:45 a.m.
  • Norwalk: 7 inches as of 10 a.m.
  • Bridgeport Airport: 7 inches as of 2 p.m.

Snow will continue throughout the afternoon and into the night, with some rain and sleet mixed in down in the southern part of the county. The high will be between 27-30, with windchill values between 10 and 15. 

Total daytime snow accumulation this afternoon is predicted to be between 8 and 12 inches in the northern end of the county, and between 3 and 5 inches in the southern part of the county.

Snow showers will continue into the night. The low will be around 18, with wind chill values between 5 and 15. It will be blustery with winds between 15 to 23 mph, and gusts as high as 33 mph.

Wednesday will see scattered snow showers, mainly after 11 a.m. It will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 30. Wind chill values will be between 5 and 15. It will be blustery, with a 30 percent chance of precipitation.
