Dangerous Heat Continues To Sizzle In Stamford

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — You'll want to find a place to keep cool Monday as temperatures soar again into the low 90s across Fairfield County as the humidity increases to tropical levels.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory through 8 p.m. Monday due to the heat wave across all of the metro New York City area. The Weather Service cautions that the heat and humidity will increase the risk for heat-related health issues, especially for the elderly and those with lung and heart disease. 

In addition, those without air conditioning should see shelter at either cooling stations or by visiting friends, a library or a movie theater during the hottest part of the day.

Those who work outdoors should take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas and drink lots of water.

There is also an Air Quality Alert until 11 p.m. Monday due to high ozone levels. 

There's a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday, mainly after 4 p.m. Some storms could be severe, with heavy rain, as clouds move in. The day will otherwise be sunny and hot, with of about 92 degrees. The heat index will rise as high as 98. 

The chance of rain and thunderstorms rises to 60 percent by Monday evening. Some storms could be severe, with heavy rain. 

It will be hot again on Tuesday, with sunny skies and a high again near 92 degrees.
