Stamford Parade Spectacular, Balloon Party To Close Streets This Weekend

STAMFORD, Conn. -- The 24th annual Stamford Downtown Parade Spectacular will make its way through the downtown area beginning at noon on Sunday, and residents are advised that some streets will be closed for the parade, as well as the night before for the Giant Balloon Inflation Party.

This year's parade will feature 16 helium-filed balloons, including the Very Hungry Caterpillar, Captain Barnacles, Alphonso the Dragon and more. The Master of Ceremonies will be TV personality Alan Kalter, returning for his 14th year, and the event will also feature marching bands and comic daredevil Bello Nock.

The annual Giant Balloon Inflation Party will be held the day before on Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m. on Summer and Hoyt Streets. 

The parade route will begin at noon at Summer and Hoyt Streets, turn left on Broad Street and turn onto Atlantic Street, where it will continue to Tresser Boulevard.
