The Kristine Lilly Soccer Academy will run from June 30 to July 3. Camp will be from 3 to 6 p.m. June 30 and from 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 1 to 3. It is for boys and girls ages 7 to 13.
The camp will be based on the 100-yard, air-conditioned indoor turf field in the Field House at Chelsea Piers.
Campers will be divided into two age/skill groupings. The Junior Academy for kids ages 7 to 9 will focus on skill development, field awareness and team play. The Senior Academy for ages 10 to 13 is geared toward the older, more experienced soccer players and continues to build on the individual skill development and field awareness of each athlete.
Kids will have off-field cross-training and other recreational activities, including the splash zone water park, swimming, trampolines, rock climbing, basketball, ice skating and more.
The camp costs $425 for Chelsea Piers members and $475 for nonmembers.
Coaches will include Lilly as well as other elite level coaches. Counselors also provide supervision and support. Lunch and snacks are included. After care until 5:30 p.m. is provided for $25 per day.
Lilly, a 1989 graduate of Wilton High School, is the most famous athlete from Wilton. She was part of the gold medal-winning U.S. Olympic teams in 1996 and 2004 and the silver medal-winning team in 2000. Lilly made her 300th international appearance in 2006 in a game in Norway, setting a record for women and men. She is ranked second all-time for women with 130 goals scored. She is the youngest and oldest woman to score a goal for Team USA.
Lilly played for the U.S. national team at age 15. She won the NCAA national championship all four years she played with the University of North Carolina. She broke into professional soccer in 1994 with Tyresö FF in Sweden. Lilly was a captain and founding member of the Boston Breakers in the first season of the Women's United Soccer Association.
She retired from soccer at the club and international level in 2011 after a 16-year professional career. Lilly now lives in Brookline, Mass., with her husband and daughter.
