The qualifying SRC boats will compete in USRowing Youth National Championships June 10-12 in West Windsor, N.J. Highlights of the team’s performance at regionals included a gold-medal pair race by Westport’s Oliver Bub and Lucas Manning, who last year represented the U.S. in the 2015 World Junior Rowing Championships.

The women’s varsity 8+ and the women’s lightweight varsity 8+ boats bested their fields, both bringing home the gold.

“Our rowers showed their mettle in some tough races at Northeast Regionals, and we’re looking forward to competing against the best boats in the country at USRowing Youth National Championships later this month,” said Sharon Kriz, director of junior rowing, Saugatuck Rowing Club.

In addition to the first-, second- and third-place finishes in varsity races that automatically qualified for nationals, SRC successfully petitioned for three fourth-place boats to earn berths in the national competition, sending a total of nine boats to West Windsor.
