Westport Takes On Washington Sunday In Little League World Series

WESTPORT, Conn. – Westport Little League’s 12-and-under All-Stars look to take the next step Sunday when they play Sammamish, Wash., in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.

Game time is 2 p.m. Sunday. The game will be televised by ABC.

Westport, 19-0 this summer and the New England region champions, advanced with a 3-2 win Thursday over South Nashville, Tenn. Washington, the Northwest region champion, advanced with an 8-4 win over the Southwest champion from Corpus Christi, Texas.

Westport scored two runs in the fifth to overcome a 2-1 deficit. Ricky Offenberg’s home run and Chad Knight’s RBI double sparked Westport’s winning rally.

“We are living the dream,’’ Knight said on the Little League website after Friday’s win.
