Casimir helped lead Trinity Catholic on a Cinderella run to the Class M state championship in 2011 as the tournament's 18 seed and a second run in 2013 that ended in the final.
A guard generously listed at 5-foot-9, Casimir reportedly needed an extra year of play at prep school South Kent to convince colleges he is not too small to play at the Division I level.
Casimir also drew attention from Iona's conference rival Fairfield University, UMass-Lowell and Toledo, according to the article.
Iona nearly recruited him after his senior year, but it was Casimir's play in the more competitive prep league that South Kent competes in that convinced the Gaels the Trinity graduate was worth the risk.
