STAMFORD, Conn. – Trinity Catholic High School’s boys basketball team and the Stamford High School girls team will put their undefeated records on the line in critical Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference games on Tuesday night.

The Crusaders play at St. Joseph in Trumbull at 7 p.m. Stamford hosts Trumbull, also at 7 p.m.

Trinity Catholic (8-0 overall, 6-0 league) is ranked No. 4 in the state in the latest poll conducted by the New Haven Register. Led by senior guard Schadrac Casimir, the Crusaders have breezed through their recent games. They have won their last three by an average of 30.6 points. But Trinity lost to St. Joseph during the regular season last year, 65-61.

Stamford’s girls (11-0, 9-0) have been one of the major surprises in the conference this season. Coming off a 12-11 season in which it lost their leading scorer to graduation, the Black Knights are having one of their best seasons ever under second-year coach Todd Parness.

Stamford is ranked third in Class LL and is one of only six teams still undefeated. Trumbull (10-0, 8-0) is also undefeated along with Danbury (10-0, 8-0). Stamford plays Danbury on Feb. 1. Danbury is ranked No. 1 in the latest Register poll, and Trumbull is ranked ninth. Stamford is not ranked.

Stamford is coming off a hard-fought 58-54 win over Trinity Catholic last Friday. Freshman Tiana England leads the team in scoring with 13.9 points per game. Kelsey Santagata is averaging 11.4 per game.
