Stamford's Tarpey Records Historic Triple-Double At William & Mary

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford’s Terry Tarpey became the first player in William & Mary basketball history to record a triple-double Saturday in the Tribe’s 81-73 victory over James Madison.

Tarpey, a junior who played at Fairfield Prep, finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists for William & Mary, which improved to 9-6 overall and 3-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association.

He became the seventh player in Division I this season and the first in the 110-year history of W&M basketball to record a triple-double.

Tarpey has started all 14 games and is averaging 9.8 points and 8.1 rebounds. He leads the team in rebounds, assists, blocks and steals.

Hofstra leads the CAA with a 4-0 league record, and Northeastern is 3-1. The Tribe has two games remaining against each team. Tarpey comes with William & Mary to visit Hofstra in Long Island on Sunday, Feb. 22.
